Argento 'Finca Altamira Single Vineyard' Organic Malbec

RM145.00

Finca Altamira vineyard is located in the heart of Uco Valley, 1,100m above sea level and is planted with different selections of Malbec in different rootstocks, due to the heterogeneity of the soil, composed of sand, silt and big rocks, covered by calcium carbonate. After manual harvest, the wine is aged for 10 months in large French oak foudres for 75% of the volume, with the remaining aged in concrete eggs, before blending and bottling.   The nose shows typical aromas of Malbec from Altamira, like black fruits, violets, spice and a touch of curry. Very aromatic, fresh, vibrant wine with red fruits and herbs. This organic Malbec offers fruity and mineral notes on the palate, with velvety tannins and a long and complex finish.   Desorchados: 93Pts; Tim Atkin MW: 92Pts; Wine Enthusiast: 92Pts Certified organic, vegan & Fairtrade

Deeply rooted in the soils of Mendoza, crafted with the spirit of Argentina, and shared with the world, Argento embodies the essence of modern Argentina. Their story is simple – Argento is intrinsically entwined with its country of origin. When you drink their wines, you experience the real Argentina.

In 1998 they recognized an opportunity to unlock the extraordinary potential of Malbec. The team of winemakers set out with the goal of revealing its vibrant, velvety character and the intense flavors of Malbec grown at the foothills of the Andes. We are very proud of our country’s winemaking heritage and the unique terroir of Mendoza, and we are dedicated to crafting wines that emphasize the hallmarks of the Argento style – fruit purity, vibrancy and elegance.

In 2012 they began to write a new chapter in our history, with the premise of leading the production of organic and sustainable wines to preserve in each bottle the best of this region, which has dry climate and alluvials soils, mountain water, high-altitude and sun brightness.

In 2022, Guia Descorchados, a celebrated & respected South American wine magazine (based in Chile) elected Juan Pablo Murgia, Chief Winemaker at Bodega Argento as 'Winemaker of the Year'.
