Bass Phillip ‘Crown Prince’ Pinot NoirRM485.0 Crown Prince are typically easy drinking Pinot Noirs with sweet plum fruits, softness and balance. These wines always have the characteristic regional ‘palate length’. The Crown Prince wines come from the Leongatha vineyard; planted in 1996 this vineyard shows regional typicity and also supplies fruit for the Estate wines. This wine comes from the major part of the Leongatha vineyard. This wine is all about spice and long tangy flavour. A sultry style of pinot that has plenty of suave red-cherry and fresh-violet aromas. The palate has a very fleshy feel with supple flavors of red and dark cherries. A nice kick of juicy acidity livens up the finish. Drink over the next five years. James Suckling: 92Pts Bass Phillip is one of the most revered Pinot Noir producer in Australia (and in the world), rivalling the best Burgundy wines. The Bass Phillip vineyards were first established in the southeaster corner of Australia in 1979, specialising in high-quality pinot noir and chardonnay wines, by owner and winemaker Philip Jones. Only about 1,500 cases of wine are produced each vintage, making the wines extremely rare and sought-after. Bass Phillip is named after George Bass and Arthur Phillip – men of great pioneering spirit, foresight and leadership during the nineteenth century. Winemaking at Bass Phillip is uncompromising and driven by the respect for nature. The vineyards have been organic since 1993 and biodynamic since 2002. All wine production processes at Bass Phillip are guided by the cosmic rhythms that impart energy and vibrancy into the wines.
