A wine of sublime elegance and finesse, the 2017 Cheval Blanc is endowed with tremendous energy, precision and cut. Red/purplish fruit, mint, sage, blood orange, star anise and exotic spice notes abound in a mid-weight, finely cut Cheval that dazzles with its energy. Technical Director Pierre-Olivier Clouet gave the 2017 26-27 days on skins. Because of severe frost damage, in 2017, the Grand Vin includes a high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (14%), from gravelly soils, which gives the wine very unusual flavor and structure profile. The 2017 Cheval Blanc has all the ingredients to be one of the wines of the vintage.   Vinous: 97Pts; James Suckling: 97Pts; The Wine Cellar Insider: 97Pts; Decanter: 96Pts; Wine Advocate: 96Pts; Vinum Wine Magazine: 19/20Pts; Jancis Robinson: 17.5/20

Chateau Cheval Blanc is an esteemed winery located in the Bordeaux region of France. It is renowned for producing some of the most exceptional and highly sought-after wines in the world. Situated in the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation, Chateau Cheval Blanc holds the highest classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé "A." The history of Château Cheval Blanc dates back to the mid-19th century when it was acquired by the Fourcaud-Laussac family. However, it was in the 20th century that the estate truly flourished under the ownership of the Bernard family, who implemented numerous improvements and innovations in vineyard management and winemaking techniques.

The vineyards of Château Cheval Blanc span approximately 41 hectares (101 acres) and are predominantly planted with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with smaller portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The unique soil composition, known as "graves," along with the meticulous vineyard practices, contribute to the distinctive character and exceptional quality of the wines. The winemaking at Chateau Cheval Blanc emphasizes a meticulous and artisanal approach. The grapes are carefully harvested and sorted by hand, and the vinification process includes a combination of stainless steel and oak vats. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they develop complexity, structure, and the ability to age gracefully.

Château Cheval Blanc wines are renowned for their elegance, finesse, and complexity. They often display a bouquet of red and black fruits, floral notes, spice, and earthy undertones. On the palate, they are harmonious, well-structured, and offer a long, lingering finish. Due to their limited production and exceptional quality, Château Cheval Blanc wines are highly sought after by collectors, wine enthusiasts, and connoisseurs. They are considered among the most prestigious and coveted wines in the world, representing the pinnacle of winemaking artistry and Bordeaux's viticultural excellence.
