Chateau Lafite Rothschild - Pauillac 1st Grand Cru 2017

Composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Lafite Rothschild is deep garnet-purple colored. It opens slowly, cautiously with restrained notes of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, warm blackcurrants and wild blueberries, followed by emerging notions of smoked meats, fragrant earth, crushed rocks and lilacs with touches of cast-iron pan and Marmite toast. Medium-bodied, the palate is deceptively light and quite ethereal on entry, growing in the mouth to reveal elegant layers of energetic red and black fruits with tons of savory accents. Framed by exquisitely ripe, wonderfully fine-grained tannins, it has exhilarating freshness and a very long, hypnotically perfumed finish. Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the most renowned and prestigious wineries in the world, located in the Bordeaux region of France. It is classified as a Premier Cru, the highest classification for Bordeaux wines. The estate has a long and illustrious history dating back to the 17th century when it was acquired by the Rothschild family.

The vineyards of Château Lafite Rothschild cover approximately 112 hectares (277 acres) and are planted with mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, along with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. These carefully selected grape varieties, combined with the unique terroir of the estate, contribute to the distinct character and exceptional quality of the wines produced.

The winemaking philosophy at Château Lafite Rothschild is centered around preserving the natural expression of the grapes and the terroir. The grapes are hand-picked and meticulously sorted before undergoing fermentation in oak vats. The wines are then aged in oak barrels, where they develop complexity and refine their flavors over time. Château Lafite Rothschild wines are highly sought after by collectors, connoisseurs, and wine enthusiasts around the globe. They are known for their elegance, finesse, and ability to age gracefully. The wines often exhibit aromas of cassis, blackberries, cedar, tobacco, and violets, with a structured palate and a long, persistent finish.

Due to their limited production and exceptional quality, Château Lafite Rothschild wines command premium prices in the market. They have become a symbol of luxury and are considered some of the finest and most coveted wines in the world.
