The 2009 Chateau Pape Clement reveals a saturated ruby/purple color as well as an upfront, complex bouquet of blackcurrants, chocolate, lead pencil, earth, and graphite. It’s full-bodied and powerful, yet stays seamless and silky on the palate, with a beautiful sense of elegance. With ripe tannins, beautiful balance, and a great finish, it has the sexy, opulent style of the vintage front and center. You can safely drink this fabulous wine anytime over the coming 2-3 decades.   Robert Parker: 99 Pts; James Suckling: 98 Pts; Wine Spectator: 95 Pts; Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Pts; Wine Enthusiast: 95 Pts

Bordeaux

Chateau Pape Clement is one of Bordeaux’s oldest estates with vineyards planted here in 1300 by Bernard de Groth who would go on to become Pope Clement V and give the property its lofty name. Today the estate is owned by food magnate Bernard Magrez who has invested heavily in the vineyards and the winery with the help of renowned consultant winemaker Michel Rolland.

The chateau is located close to other top Pessac-Leognan estates like Haut-Brion, Mission Haut-Brion, and Domaine de Chevalier and has 32 hectares of prime vineyards planted with around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot as well as very small amounts of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle.
