Grosset 'Piccadilly Valley' Pinot Noir

RM355.00

For more than a quarter of a century, this Pinot Noir has been produced from fruit grown in the ultra-cool Piccadilly Valley, within the Adelaide Hills. The approach to vinification has been strictly traditional and unwavering from year to year: hand harvested, foot plunged day and night in shallow open fermenters and matured in French oak (60% new) for ten months. There is restraint on the nose, with black cherry, dark plum and mulberry fragrances that are bright and fresh. It is light to medium-bodied yet with wonderful intensity, depth and concentration of pure red berry flavours; and fleshy, silky smooth texture that gives it a pleasing approachability. It finishes with ripe, supple tannins and vibrant cleansing acidity. Persistent and fine. Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery producing eight highly regarded premium wines each vintage. Established in 1981, the winery is situated in the historic township of Auburn in South Australia’s Clare Valley. Jeffrey Grosset is one of Australia’s most significant winemakers. There are four estate-owned vineyards; each is located in higher altitude country just north of the winery; each is certified organic and all fruit is hand-picked and processed through the organically certified winery at Auburn.

The fame of Clare Valley Riesling is hinged on his vision splendid. As one of the leading proponents of screw cap closures, his wines have hugely benefited from this technology. Alongside his flagship Rieslings, Grosset also produces several other compelling wines including Semillon, Chardonnay and a Cabernet blend named Gaia.
