Luce della Vite is a visionary winery launcher in 1995 by the Frescobaldi & Mondavi families, with the idea of producing the 1st and best ‘Super-Tuscan’ wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, renowned for our world-famous Brunello de Montalcino wines, a classic Italian wine crafted from 100% Sangiovese. The estate was the 1st one to introduce ‘international’ grapes in the region, with a predominant of Merlot, planted on the lower part of the Montalcino hill. Now fully owned by the Frescobaldi Family but runned as an independent winery, our objective is to produces wines with upmost quality and perfect expression of the local terroirs, with a very soft use of the oak barrels to offer the purest wines possible. ‘Luce’ is the flagship cuvee, and the 1st ever ‘Super-Tuscan’ created in Montalcino, combining the roundness and softness of Merlot with the structure and elegance of Sangiovese. After careful selection in the vineyards, it spend 24 months in oak barrels, 100% new. The 2015’s complex nose of ripe fruit features dominant cherry and plum aromas introduced by spicy highlights of vanilla and ginger bread that pave the way for softer notes of cinnamon and cloves. To the palate, the wine is genuine and structured. The tannins are present but elegant and not aggressive, providing a broad and dense frame to the wine.
