Lujan de Cuyo
In 1989 Luigi Bosca collaborated actively to create the Lujan de Cuyo Denomination of Origin, the only D.O.C. established in Argentina, proudly bringing it into line with other D.O.C.s worldwide. To be labeled D.O.C. a wine must adhere to strict regulations; vines must hale from a single vineyard and average 50 years or older. Plantings must be kept to under 550 plants per hectare with yields of not more than 10,000kg. In the winery, wines must be aged a minimum of 12 months in barrique.
De Sangre is the name the winery has given to those outstanding wines that are meant to be shared with loved ones, a tradition that has remained uninterrupted for over a century. This wine is crafted from grapes grown in select plots of vineyards located in Las Compuertas, Vistalba and Agrelo. It is a great exponent of the variety and the terroir, with good ageing potential.
Aromas in which red fruit stands out, reminiscent of ripe cherry. Spicy notes can also be perceived, thus adding complexity and very well integrated slightly roasted hues evoke coffee – the result of its aging process. A round wine, rich in red fruity notes, that is also a little spicy in the palate. Including firm tannins of balanced acidity, this robust red of great character vigorously fills the mouth with ripe fruit and offers a lingering and compact finish. Recommended wine serving temperature: Between 16°C and 18°C. Perfect to enjoy with a rack of lamb with sauteed mushrooms, or a rib eye steak with quinoa risotto, and a semi-hard cheese platter.
