Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni
RM210.00
The Castiglioni estate has been the emblem of the Frescobaldi family’s wine-growing tradition since 1300. The production of wines linked to the region of Tuscany, enjoyed by the papal court and the English court of Henry VIII in the 16th century, began here.
The rich Super-Tuscan Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni, this estate’s iconic wine, is clearly in a modern key, but holds fast to the qualities of its local terroir. Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni beautiful, bright ruby-red colour with tinges of purple. The nose reveals fruity notes of cherry, blackberry, blueberry and mulberry. Equally marvellous are the spiced notes of cinnamon and star anise and light hints of black pepper. More general tertiary and toasted notes then emerge. It is soft and enveloping on the palate. The tannins are resolved. The finish is long and persistent.

About The Brand
The history of the Frescobaldi family starts over a thousand years ago and is closely connected with the history of Tuscany, with the wine involvement dating back to at least 1308. At the high point of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldi’s spread their influence as bankers, earning the title of treasures to the English crown. Today, they intend for the different family estates, with their vineyards, to be the expression of this diversity and for the wines to reflect each individual terroir, respecting their nature and authenticity. They own 11 estates in Tuscany, all running independently. That includes Ornellaia & Masseto, 2 of the most revered Super-Tuscan wines.
