Mas de la Rosa is an old vineyard now owned by Familia Torres. This incomparable Priorat enclave is home to Garnacha Tinta and Carinena vines that are more than 80 years old. The exceptional Priorat terroir and a selection of the most exquisite grapes provide the inspiration for this project, a limited edition of our Priorat icon wine.   The vineyard is known as Coster (a Catalan word that denotes a steep slope). The soil is shallow and comprised of only one horizon, with bedrock immediately underneath (about 10-15 cm). It is relatively acidic, with low organic matter derived from weathered llicorella, a type of dark copper-coloured laminated rock. The vines spread their roots around the rocky layers in search of moisture, water and nutrients.   Aged in French oak barrels for 16 months, this is dense and savoury, meaty, animally nose, very fresh, light, aerated palate washed with juice, very light and fresh finish with dark raspberry notes. You expect a certain dryness of tannins in a wine so elegant but it’s fresh and mouth-watering at the end.     Guia Penin: 99Pts; Wine Advocate: 94+Pts; Decanter: 94Pts
