Torres ‘Milmanda’ Chardonnay – Conca de Barbera
The highland estate of Castello di Milmanda, dominated by the castle that gives it its name, is where Chardonnay finds the most favourable conditions for its development. Years of patient research have resulted in Milmanda. Milmanda was part of a route of medieval castles that gave shelter to Christians during the time of the Reconquest. In the 12th century peace came to these lands and vine-growing began anew. Today, at the foot of these castle walls, the Torres family grows the Chardonnay grape variety. This single vineyard wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels.
The vineyard of Milmanda (DO Conca de Barbera ) extends across 16 hectares (the collection’s only white) with deep, silt-rich clay soils that are ideal for growing Chardonnay, which can develop its full potential here. This green expanse of vines frames a historical and architectural site without peer.
The complex and harmonious combination of aromas of this elegant, noble wine elevate it to truly world-class status. Beautiful golden yellow in colour. Very intense, complex aroma with notes of fruit (citrus and peach compote) over a very fine background of vanilla. Oily and very big on the palate with superb acidity, pleasantly expressing the fruity notes of the aroma.

The Torres surname has been linked to wine for more than three centuries, when the family first planted vines in the Penedes. Since it was founded in 1870, Bodegas Torres has combined tradition and innovation with the aim of leading the premium quality wine and brandy sector. In doing so, the company has always carried out its work with the utmost respect for the environment, lead by the 5th generation of the family.
Right from the beginning, exports have been one of the main pillars of the company, and nowadays Torres wines can be found in more than 150 countries. Thanks to countless effort to have Spanish world recognized, Familia Torres has been named Europe’s most admired brand for nine years by beverage magazine Drinks International and Miguel A. Torres is one of the few Spanish producers to have been named Decanter Man of the Year.
The Torres family’s philosophy of winegrowing begins with respect for the land. “We live from the earth and we are a family-owned company, so this combination leads us to care for our land and resources — not just for this generation, but also for future generations”, says Miguel A. Torres. Torres completely avoids the use of chemical treatments, replacing them with biological alternatives, following the viticulture traditions of Torres’ ancestors.
