Torres ‘Salmos’ – Priorat (Magnum – 1,500ml)
RM515.0
This wine is a homage to the monks of the courageous Carthusian order, who arrived in ‘Priorat’, in 1095, where they introduced and cultivated vines. In 1835 a violent crowd destroyed the work of a lifetime and sacked the monastery, events which later culminated in the auctioning of church lands known as the ‘Desamortizacion de Mendizabal’. In 1996 the Torres Family began work on the planting of vineyards on the slopes strewn with the hard, black slate-like ‘Licorella’ stone.
El Priorato – known in Catalan as Priorat – is a small and one-of-a-kind winemaking area with black hills where an intense, deep red wine has been produced for eight centuries. It’s renowned for its quality and exquisiteness. This wine is made from grapes mostly sourced from our La Giberga vineyard in Porrera, a scenic spot featuring terraces standing on llicorella slate soils, with strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, contributing to the allure of this wine.

Description
The Torres surname has been linked to wine for more than three centuries, when the family first planted vines in the Penedes. Since it was founded in 1870, Bodegas Torres has combined tradition and innovation with the aim of leading the premium quality wine and brandy sector. In doing so, the company has always carried out its work with the utmost respect for the environment, lead by the 5th generation of the family.
Right from the beginning, exports have been one of the main pillars of the company, and nowadays Torres wines can be found in more than 150 countries. Thanks to countless effort to have Spanish world recognized, Familia Torres has been named Europe’s most admired brand for nine years by beverage magazine Drinks International and Miguel A. Torres is one of the few Spanish producers to have been named Decanter Man of the Year.
The Torres family’s philosophy of winegrowing begins with respect for the land. “We live from the earth and we are a family-owned company, so this combination leads us to care for our land and resources — not just for this generation, but also for future generations”, says Miguel A. Torres. Torres completely avoids the use of chemical treatments, replacing them with biological alternatives, following the viticulture traditions of Torres’ ancestors.
