Torres 'Sons de Prades' Chardonnay - Conca de Barbera

Conce de Barbera’s natural conditions along with its history and traditions make it a privileged area for vine growing and the production of excellent wines. Protected from the sea by the mountains, this designation has been traditionally known for its white wines. It is located in the southern part of Catalonia between the provinces of Tarragona and Lleida and in the basin of the Francola and Anguera Rivers. Aged for 6 months in 100% new fine-grained French oak. In latitudes as far south as the Milmanda estate, where the climate is clearly Mediterranean and marked by high temperatures, Chardonnay develops truly extraordinary aromas. Very clear, pale yellow. Fresh aromas of wild flowers (broom) and fruit (pineapple, pear). Succulent palate with delicate fruit extract (citrus) and an elegant finish. Pairs perfectly with an ‘arroz caldoso de bogavante‘ (brothy rice with lobster) or a mushroom risotto. Lovely with oil-rich fish like turbot or salmon. Tuna or cod carpaccio also make for an excellent match. As for cheeses, try an aged Comte or Emmental. James Suckling: 91Pts; Guia Penin: 90Pts; Decanter World Wines Awards 2020: Bronze Medal

The Torres surname has been linked to wine for more than three centuries, when the family first planted vines in the Penedes. Since it was founded in 1870, Bodegas Torres has combined tradition and innovation with the aim of leading the premium quality wine and brandy sector. In doing so, the company has always carried out its work with the utmost respect for the environment, lead by the 5th generation of the family.

Right from the beginning, exports have been one of the main pillars of the company, and nowadays Torres wines can be found in more than 150 countries. Thanks to countless effort to have Spanish world recognized, Familia Torres has been named Europe’s most admired brand for nine years by beverage magazine Drinks International and Miguel A. Torres is one of the few Spanish producers to have been named Decanter Man of the Year.

The Torres family’s philosophy of winegrowing begins with respect for the land. “We live from the earth and we are a family-owned company, so this combination leads us to care for our land and resources — not just for this generation, but also for future generations”, says Miguel A. Torres. Torres completely avoids the use of chemical treatments, replacing them with biological alternatives, following the viticulture traditions of Torres’ ancestors.
