Vina San Pedro ‘Cabo de Hornos’ Cabernet Sauvignon

RM296.0

Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn) – The place where the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet inspired the creation of this icon wine in 1994. Cabo is a remarkable exponent of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the volcanic soils at the foot of the Cordillera in the Cachapoal Andes Valley and is the result of this terroir, together with the meticulous, controlled and dedicated work of winemaker Gonzalo Castro.
The instinct to discover new territories is a natural condition of man. Navigating the unexpected and venturing into the ends of the world requires courage and tenacity. Much more if we think of the seventeenth century, a time when the audacity and bravery of a group of Dutch sailors led them to discover Cape Horn, the southernmost place in all of America and one of the most imposing places on earth by the ferocity of its waters and adverse weather conditions.
Cabo de Hornos, a pure Cabernet Sauvignon of great character, originating from, pays tribute to these sailors with its label of navigation cartographies of the time. The wine is aged for 16 months in new (50%), second use (30%) three or more use (10%) 225L French oak barrels and large foudres (10%).
The nose is elegant, ripe and concentrated, marked by cassis and black cherry fruit that intermingles with blond tobacco and a touch of mocha. Rich and well concentrated with an excellent balance of tannins and acidity. It is expressive and elegant, slightly mineral, long and persistent.

Description

When brothers Bonifacio and Jose Gregorio Correa Albano founded Viña San Pedro in 1865, they began to produce their first wines with local grape varieties, giving in effect birth to viticulture in the Curico Valley. Soon afterwards, they brought clones of the classical varietals from Europe to replace those native species. Then, as their vineyards evolved and the high quality of their wines started to shine through, they began to ship their wines across the world in the 1940s.

Today, Vina San Pedro is one of the most important wineries in Chile and one of the country’s most significant exporters, with a presence in over 80 markets across five continents.
